Avedon shot this? eh... :\
WOW Janice Dickinson.....she really went overboard with the plastic surgery. damn.

and finally, WOW an Asian model in the late 80s! I definitely want to look into her. she might've been, I dunno, a pageant queen, though. That would be sad.

I remember that ad very well. First time they used an asian in a major ad. I think her name is Maki Shibuya. Paris based model with the agency FAM. Susan Miner was a big catalog/commercial model at the time and I remember not knowing Janice D and thinking she wasn't that pretty.

this campaign would be stronger with just Maki alone. the other two are just distracting and cheapens it.

Maki, Ariane Koizumi(though she is part Dutch, and Anna BAyle were the ones in the 80s you saw in Couture shows and shoots shot by Avedon, Meisel, and Benisimon. These were the awesome Asian women with natural features and versatile looks.

I love these Revlon adverts. Maki always stood out for me.
There is also another set with Rachel Hunter and 2 or 3 other women.
I remember pulling these pages out from magazines and using them as book covers in middle school. The ads stand on their own, even now.
Thanks for posting!
